Index Gearbox

Definition:

Recommended as one of the best choices for an all-in-one precision positioning device is index gearbox which is used for applications with high positioning accuracy, fixed rotation angles of fixed divisions of one circle and periodic operation of very frequent start-stop in specified positions.

Output shaft (turret) carrying high precision follower roller bearings is pushed to rotate at fixed equal angles (index angle) by the cam assembled on the input shaft which rotates continually.

Specification:

Dwell number, usually one or two, is the number of stops (indexing) on the output shaft per one complete turn of the input shaft.

Motion profile during indexing, index time and dwell time, can be attained by predetermined curve designing and machining on the cam which is on the input shaft and is something fixed and unchangeable when product is totally assembled.

High dynamic torque for indexing, very accurate indexing stop point, perfect repeatability, no need for mechanical initialization at start-up or when power-on after emergency shut-down, maintenance free operation, compact size, robust design are remarkable advantages which make the users to select index gearbox as a unique all-in-one minimum system solution for rotary and linear indexing equipments.

As it is completely mechanical product and no electronic inside, so it is washable thoroughly with care about the bearings of course, which is definitely outstanding feature when used in food, dairy or pharmaceutical industries for rotary filling or packing machines.

One complete rotation of output shaft (rotating table) can be divided from 2 up to 32 divisions based on the requirement, and the turret (output shaft carrying the followers) is designed and manufactured accordingly.

Product range is from as small size as 40mm (distance between input and output shaft axes) up to 200mm and even more in different designs.

Some types have parallel input-output shaft axes while some have perpendicular.
